Hello Ruth
My great grandfather was James Kavanagh b abt 1830 worked in the copper mines at Bonmahon Waterford. He married my g grandmother Julia Pearson in Bonmahon abt 1856. They both died in the early 1900's at Doyle Street Waterford City. In the 1901 & 1911 census it states they were both born in Wicklow. They were Catholics and had their children baptised at Stradbally Church Bonmahon. I have details about their children and have searched for many years for more information about James with out success.
There is another family in Bonmahon covering the same years who I believe maybe the brother to James. His name John who married Julia Quilty their children had the same names as James and Julia's offspring
Hope some of this information may be familiar to you
Regards
Susan
