This is such a complicated name! Found my GrGrandfather Joseph on Ellis Island under KAVALECZ. My family spells it with a "j" not and "l". This may have been a common translation of "j"'s. Let me know the details you are looking for Alice.

My great grandfather was Frank Kavajecz Sr b 1875 and he had siblings that he did not have much contact with (or might not have remembered) He spelled his name Kavajecz and Kavajec at various points. According to his death certificate (Kavajec) his fathers name was Steven/Steve and Mother's name was Anna. Both names translated to Hungarian are ISTVAN and ZSUSANNA which are the same names as the parents of Joseph Kavajecz b 1863 (12 years older) Both Frank and Joseph were coal miners in Ohio approx the same time. Frank's birth certificate has not been found. I have copies of his US Citizenship and his death certificate and also his marriage license. So I'd be willing to bet they were brothers. Frank's family moved to Chicago Area. Josephs family moved to Wisconsin. I have information of Frank Kavajecz and Anna Yoo Kavajecz's family information
