Ferdinand K kautz was born in Germany (maybe Berlin?) and then came to America around 1880. He became a herdsman on the Bullen Farm -which became Pabst Blue Ribbon Farm in Oconomowac Wisconsin. I read that the Pabst, Kautz and Heinz families owned the beer company, but I am not sure if my relatives just worked there or if they were related? Ferdinand Karl Kautz was born in 1854 in Germany his father was Ernest W. Kautz and his mother was Marie Schroeder. I would LOVE to learn more about them? I am told that Ferdinand Karl kautz lost his arm in a farming accident and would attach a hook to work. He lost his wife and a son in 1888 and married a second wife "Augusta Seefeldt" - whom had a son "Fritz." His sister Maria Charlotte Kautz married Karl Adams in Oconomowoc.

His parents were Charles and Mellie Kautz, both born in IL. Charles' parents were Christian and Anna Barbara Kautz. Christian was born in IL. I'm looking for any information on Christian's parents and grandparents. I know that his grandparents immigrated from Baden area of SW Germany in the 1830's and that they are buried in Geneva, IL.
hi Kelly. Christian A. Kautz (1862-1935)was my great grandfather from Chicago. He maried Anna Kramer. He was born in Lichtenau Germany. Arrived in USA around 1872. He went by A.C. Kautz reversing his first two names. He moved out to Oregon state. He owned and operated with his family a large mill in Portland Oregon. Sound familiar?
thanks, Larry Coplen
Dear Kathy,
I just checked the emigration records for Baden and it is possible to find your man in the card index, which lists emigrants from Baden to all parts of the world. The film for the years 1866-1911 is #1180211 and it can be ordered at your
nearest Family History Center. This part of the index is for the surnames, Harlacher-Maile. The General Land Archive in Karlsruhe is the location for this card index. I found this information by going to www.familysearch.org and clicking on the search of their library catalog for place-Baden. If you would like my help with this, please e-mail me.
Karla

Pisgah Ridge Church Brown Co., Ohio

I would like to announce to everyone the up and coming Pisgah Ridge Church homecoming. It is taking place at the Pisgah Ridge church in Brown Co., Ohio Sept 12, 2004. This is an older church which does not have regular services, but twice a year, Sunday the day before Memorial Day and the second Sunday in September. They have been meeting for quite some time on these dates. The church is funded by all of the descendants that attend the function. The church and the graveyard is in excellent shape and there is a lot of genealogy to dig up there. The church is located off 52 at Levanna, just go up the hill and you will run into it. Or, you can go off old 68 to Pisgah Ridge Church.
There is a covered dish dinner, a short church service, and of course lots of talk about genealogy. What are the surnames associated with this church well: Bayne, Bauer, Cahall, Chapman, Cornick, Davidson, Day, Drake, Dunham, Frost, Graybill, Hardyman, Hicks, Hill, Jordan, Kautz, Kinnett, LaMonda, Loudon, Mefford, Myers, Pangburn, Richey, White, Daugherty, Gardner, McElroy, Thompson, Heizer, Cooper, Rogers. I am sure I probably have miss some surnames so I am sorry if I did. I hope some of you, that have these surnames can make the services, it would be nice to see some new faces.

Sincerely,

Deborra White Fite
