I have hit a dead end with Charity Kauble my great great grandmother. She was born in Indiana and I see other Kaubles that are probably related to her but I can't find any record of her parents. If anyone has any information I'd appreciate the help. My 96 year old uncle said the Rowland/Kauble side of the family was always a mystery with very little information except John Rowland served in the civil war and an early Kansas settler but no info about Charity except her obituary in 1903.

Risa, I noticed that John and Charity had a son in 1872 that they named "Francis Marion" Rowland. So he would have been named after her older brother. In the 1850 Census it shows Francis Marion Kauble (age 10) living with the Daniel and Margaret Sleeth family in Missouri. Since I had so much trouble finding info on Charity I had wondered if they could have been orphaned or somehow not raised together as a family. This census furthers my questions about this??

Well, I think I answered part of this question. . .
David (Daniel?) Sleeth married Margaret Peggy Kauble in 1838 so Francis Marion Kauble would have been living with his aunt and uncle in Missouri during the 1850 census. If his father died in 1848 I wonder if all of the children were distributed among relatives?

please, check your email.
David Kauble [died 1848] was my relative
and yes, his children lived with other relatives.
