thank you for your reply. could there possibly be two silas kaubles from that time? my ggrandfather silas, was married twice that i know of: first to clarinda church (children: ella, joe, and elizabeth) and secondly to mary ann ellis (children: clara, anna, edgar(my grandfather), john and cindy. edgar was born in clay city, indiana on 2/12/1889, married flossie robinson (children: james, ruth, and robert (my father). flossie had a son out of wedlock named eugene. edgar died 3/17/56 and is buried in sunset memorial cemetery in kokomo, indiana, as is his wife, two sons, and ruth. if any of this sounds familiar, please let me know, and i'll be glad to share more with you.

The 1880 census of Ralls co Missouri shows:
S. T. Kauble 51 IN VA VA
Clarissa 51 IN DE KY
William O. B. (Butler) 26 IN
Noble P. 24 IN
D. Stephen 21 IN
Clara May 8 MO

Silas married Clarissa in Clay Co IN 13 Nov 1864

The way I see it: Clarissa was Silas's 2nd wife and the mother of Clara May. The other children belonged to a 1st wife.

Contact me. I will share what I have. Joann

Denise, I think I am wrong. The S. T. Kauble in the 1880 Ralls co MO census must be Solomon Tyner. I saw a query written by Glenda Camden and it straightened me out. She says Clarissa is Clarissa Elsbury. I am going to look in Fern Chapel Cemetery, Ralls co MO, and see if S. T. is buried there. Keep diggin', Joann

Just this last week continued on my search for my father's ancestors and happened across your note. Do you know if there were other children and who they might be? My father is deceased as are his parents and other immediate family and my mother's memory is not very good these days. I would appreciate any help you can offer me and would be glad to return the favor if I can. Thanks.

I am a great grandson of Clarrisa (born 1827) and Solomon Kauble. Butler and Pierce (Noble) were my great uncles. Douglas was my grandfather. They lived in Ralls County..no connection to Silas. Clara Mae was the younger sister who died at about age 27 (1898). If I can be of further help, my email is Mjamesk@msn.com. Please ID as relating to this site so I do not delete it. I live in Iowa.
