Kaub family from Kaub Germany
Where do I find information about Kaub, GermanyMy great-grandfather Charles L. Kaub's family from there

Kaub 50 5N 7 46E Approximately due west of Frankfurt, on the Rhein (I firmly believe the German spelling should be used) about midway between Koblenz and Mainz. Fodor's Modern Guides, Germany (1954) has the following brief entry:- Kaub, eastbank: here, in the middle of the river, on an island, stands a small but famous castle, the Pfalz. This was a toll house, where in medieval times boats using the river had to pay for the privilege.
I am researching my Kaubs too, and have a collection of 1500 names including spouses families, and some lines with descendents through to the present. There are also many duplicates where, although I believe information from different sources refer to the same individual, I cannot prove that as being the case. Hence they appear twice, pending proof. There are many Kaub-Kaup-Coup families which are not connected, at least not in the American branches. hope this helps daryl

Re: Kaub family from Kaub Germany
You may find information about Kaub, Germany by searching the web with those words typed in the search.
Kaub is found in Rhineland along the Rhine River on the NE shore between Oberwesel and Bacharach, which are NW of Mainz.
Kaub, Germany is also where my family is from. My ancestor, John Kaub was born circa 1783; I think he married Mary Irene Rechnor. He settled in MD then moved on to PA.
I am not having luck researching this branch, I think they may have changed their surname to Kaub (Koub) in USA because they were from Kaub, Germany and it was easier to use than their real surname.

Re: Kaub family from Kaub Germany
We have a Charles Kaub in our family. His parents were John J. and Adeline (Pysell) Kaub. John J. was born 1838 in PA and Aldeline was born 1839 in PA. Is this your family?

I am looking for information on Peter Kaub, born in 1802 in Somerset, Pa. He married Elizabeth Miller. Their oldest son, Daniel is my 3ggrandfather. He was born in Somerset, Pa in 1831. The family moved to Baltic, Ohio where the other 4 children were born, then on to Indiana where Peter and Elizabeth later died in Lagrange co. If any of this sounds familiar, I would love to hear from you. Daniel married Mary Burger or Berger, who died quite young. He later married Mary's younger sister, Sarah, and they later moved to Kansas. They were members of the German Baptist Brethren church.
