Nee Hammerstrom, Age 74 Passed from this life on Friday, September 21, 2012 while surrounded by her family at Johns Hopkins Bayview Care Center in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born on October 14, 1937 in Duluth, Minnesota to parents Alden Duncan Hammerstrom and Gladys Lucille Miller. Judith married Phillip Katzung on December 23, 1961 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was a graduate of St. Paul Central High School, Macalester College, and the University of Minnesota where she attained a Masters Degree in Library Science. Judy taught English and Spanish in the South St. Paul Schools; then librarian in South St. Paul and West St. Paul Schools, St. Paul Dispatch-Pioneer Press, and U.S. News and World Report magazine in Washington, D.C. She loved music, especially opera; art; movies; and travel. She also loved experimenting with new recipes for her dinner guests. Judy will be remembered for her ready smile and her sense of humor expressed so eloquently in annual Christmas letters to family and friends. She leaves behind her husband Phillip; daughter Emily (Robert) Koenig; son Andrew; grandsons Noah and Adam Koenig; and sister Jean (Bill) Mills. Funeral Service 11:00 AM Thursday at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St Paul. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. - See more at:
