Hello,

Reseaching - My great-great-grandfather was Stanislaw Kata, married Frances Kwasnik (maiden name), both born (or born near) Wola Rzeszow, Poland (Galicia), abt. 1870's?. Their children, Marcin and Sophia (born in Poland/Galicia) both immigrated to U.S abt. 1910. Marcin Kata (b. abt. 1889) married Katarzina Stec (b. abt. 1897) both born in or near Rzeszow, married in U.S.
Any connections, info, or suggestions for research?

Thanks,

Hi Michael,

I am also researching the Kata name. My grandmother was Mary Kata. She married Leon Glinka. Mary was born in New Britain, Connecticut around 1907. Her parents were Michael and Rose (Rosie) Kata. They came from Austria/Poland (Wola) around 1900. I know that Michael had siblings that also came over, a brother possibly named Joseph. I think that your Kata's and mine Kata's could possibly be related.

I am also researching the Kata name. My grandmother was born in the US - Mary Kata to Michael and Rose Kata. I believe that Michael and Rose married once they came to the US. Rose's maiden name was Osga or Ozga. The family settled in New Britian Connt. Mary may have had a sister named Katie. I never had the chance to know my grandmother. After she had my father, she had some medical issues and was hospitalized. Mary married Leon Glinka and they lived in Brooklyn NY.
The story that I was told, was after Mary's hospitalization, some of her family members went to my grandfather (Leon) and offered to adopt my father but grandfather said no.
It also looks like Michael and Rose may have returned to Poland as I could no longer find them in the census but according to Ellis Island records, Michael did return to the states again and had a wife Rose in Poland.
Anyone with any information on this family line would be appreciated. Would share anything I have on the family.
