My Ggrandmother's maiden name was Rose Kasa who lived in Akos Hungary in 1907 & before. She married Ferencz (Frank Albert). They had ? children, two of which came to the USA via Ellis Island in New York. One came in 1907, stayed in Trenton, NJ with friends/family, then settled in South Bend, IN. The other child came with her father, Frank in 1912 via Ellis Island. I have records of the above info. I'm not sure if Rose ever came with her husband to the USA. I believe she stayed in Hungary with the other children. I'm not sure, but can find out.
Tell me more about your Kasa's. Dates, etc.

My grandmother's maiden name was KASA and they came over from Hungary through Ellis Island when she was 8 years old. They settled in Cleveland, Ohio. Does that sound like it could be related to your KASA's?

Yes - it's possible. My paternal grandparents came through Ellis Island as young adults and settled in South Bend, IN. However, I know that we had/have relatives in Cleveland, OH. I can remember going to visit as a kid. Not sure of the names anymore. Stay in touch.

Interesting...there might be a Kasa connection here! My grandmother's Dad's name was Istvan (Stephen) Kasa and her mother's name was Julia Kasa. She had several siblings and they all lived in the Hungarian neighborhood in Cleveland. The daughters came to this country from Hungary in 1914. Hope to hear more details from you! Sincerely, Gail Kelley

Dear ShirleyAnn
At first excuse my English
but there are a few important facts, you shoud know from history and geography about homeland area of yours forefathers.
After lost war, In 1918 finished /dissapiered/ Austria Hungarian monachy, and on this area originated new coutries, include Hungaria, Austria, Czechoslovakia, a parts joined to present Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Moldavia.
In this area is common surname Kassa, Kaša, Kasa, and theirs pronanciation is very simillar, you would say the identical, in Slovak and in Hungarian.
In the slovac telephone directory you can find over 100 notices of this surname.
I tried to find on the mape and on the internet town or village named Akos in Hungary, but there were only streets of this name. A dont speak Hungarian but I supose that Akos is probably only name of some iportant person in Hungarian history.
Slovac genealogic sources say that the name Kaša, Kasa, Kassa originated in connection of the town Košice, in Hungarian language and before 1918 Kassavaros, that means town Kassa or town Košice in Slovak laguage.
Košice is the second largest town in Slovakia
