In response to mary ewen the name Karabin and Karabinus(in my case it is Karabinis, but I have seen it Karabinas, also) are synomous because the word Karabin is a type of gun some Greeks used to carry, thus coming up with these various spellings of surnames. I am curios as to where the Karabinus family in Greece originated, my family is from Koroni, Greece.
Also, we may have all started out with the same surname but as our ancestors came to america it was often misspelled and mispronounced, thus giving us many variations

I am seeking any info on my great-grandfather Dionesios Karabinis, born in1864, he was married to Eleni Makris and lived in Koroni, Greece, I know he had at least one brother. I would be grateful for any information on them prior to them coming to the states. Also, i would like to know how to obtain any ship lists for passenger names and also how to get any info when they lived in Kroni, Greece

thank you,
tami

My maternal grandfather was Peter (Piotr) Stasienko. He was born 28 Aug 1887 in Rudki, Waluy, Poland. His parents were William (Wojciech) and Mary (Majna)Stasienko. Known siblings were Jan, Ignatz, and Elizabeth. Another brother and sister existed, but their names are unknown to me. Peter immigrated to the US in 1912, settling in Youngstown, OH. Any connects?
