It seems we are related. Ethel May Kaough is my 2nd cousin 2x removed. I have a picture of my 2nd great grandmother, Mary Ann Kaough who was the daughter of Joseph Kaough (1810-1867 Ireland) and Annie Mary McNeil if you want it. She married John Francis Clooney Sr. who came to Louisiana from Galveston and worked in the Kaough shipyards, then opened the Clooney shipyards. I know that this is a long time since you originally posted this link but I would be happy to hear from you!

My gg grandmother was Mary Ann Kaough who married John Francis Clooney Sr. I know the Clooneys came to the US after living many years in St. John's Labrador Newfoundland. John Francis worked in the Kaough Shipyard and then opened the Clooney shipyards. The Clooneys still live in Lake Charles. As you can see I have a lot of information on the Clooneys but not much on the Kaoughs. I was wondering if you could give me any insight into Mary Ann's parents and Irish origins.

Surnames: Kaough, McWilliams
In a current visit to Lake Charles, I visited the Old Catholic Cemetery, and the only Kaough grave and tombstone I could still find was that of Mary Clooney. What was interesting were the names of her infant daughters, with whom she was buried. The oldest was named Sarah Ann, 3 and a half months old, dying in December 1875.

This seems at least indirect evidence that Sarah Ann McWilliams was Mary's mother. It isnt proof, and I'm still very interested in seeing the documentation on the other women mentioned in this thread as possible mothers of Mary and the other older children of Joseph Kaough.

I hope to get back to the cemetery to search for other headstones lost when some of the tombs were bulldozed, an astounding act. I saw one for Joseph Kaough several years ago, but it may have been moved to an area with many marble pieces are stacked. I'll post the results.

Surnames: Kaough Brown
Hi George,
I am a Kaough descendant in Fort Wayne. there are a bunch of Kaough's here - Nicholas arrived here before 1838, don't think anyone has found definite information. he married the daughter of Patrick and Margaret Brown who also immigrated here around 1836. the Daughter Margaret and Nicholas had many children. one was John Kaough who went to California in the gold rush era. he never returned, and cannot find his death, although one brother went to California and found him living in 1902. feel free to look at my tree in your spare time. I am in the Margaret Kaough line. there were many sons (brothers to her). are you on facebook? search for Kaoughs!

I just was reviewing an old thread on the Kaoughs when I came across your post. I knew immediately by the name that you are a descendant of Aunt Pat. Archie and Henrietta were my great grandparents and though you may by now be aware, your Patricia spent quite a bit of time with their family, I believe that she was raised by her Aunt Yvonne (who was a Curley) and Uncle Charlie Payne. They had no children of their own, I believe that they lost at leat one in childbirth or shortly after, but they were very loving people. I remember visiting her home, especially when some of your relatives would come to visit. (Ellen and Theresa in particular.)
