There are Kanaans here in the Philippines descended from a group of cousins who immigrated here from Lebanon in the 1920's when Phils. was an American colony. They were Maronite Christians and one (my grandfather) was Felipe Kanaan. He married Consolacion Monfort, a Filipina of Spanish/French descent. Some members have since immigrated to USA.

I'm a Kanaan myself. I have a family tree that goes back about 200 years. According to it the Kanaans originated in Palestine of a moslem family. In the late 1700's two brothers left the home town of the Kanaans ( Nablus) because of a blood fued.On took refuge in Aleppo, Syria and the other in Lebanon. The latter married into a christian family and started the Lebanese "branch" of the Kanaans.

Re: Do you know any kanaan
My mother was a Canaan. Her father was Lebanese and the original family name was Kanaan. My Grandfather and Grandmother came to the US from Syria/Lebanon. We have a family tree that goes back to 1300s. My Grandfather was Alexander Richard, (Iskander Rashid), was married in Ohio, moved and raised his family in Detroit Michigan.

Re: Do you know any kanaan
Unfortunately, probably not. All are 3rd generation. My grandparents, first generation and second generation are now deceased. My grandfather changed his name from Kanaan to Canaan when he immigrated to the US in early 1900's. We are also related to the Khalils and the Haddads. I have one aunt born in 1920 still living, I'll mention the name to see if she remembers anything. I know the family talked about many gatherings of their middle eastern friends in the Detriot area on a regular basis. If I come up with anything else, I'll let you know.
