Have confirmed that my great grandmother was Zuzana Kania and died during the flu epidemic in Youngstown, Ohio on Dec 27, 1918. The death certificate did not list her parents or maiden name, presumably because of the lack of time to do so by hospital personnel. She was buried in Calvary Cemetery on the 28th of December.

My great-grands, John Zuzana Kania came to the States on the Kaiser Wilhelm to Ellis Island. Unfortunately there were several vessels called Kaiser Wilhelm, but it is a start. They traveled out of Breman(whose lists were destroyed-figures), but again, another piece of the puzzle.

I also saw your post and I'm looking for any info on Pete Kanna that came to America around 1908. He may have spelled his name Kanya or Kania. thanks Teresa

Research shows that the family Kan'a (pronounced Kanya) came from Savik, Hungary in 1911. The area is now know as Stavnik, Slovakia Zuzana and the children arrived in NY from France and went to Youngstown, Ohio

I'm looking for Alexander Anton Kana. Parents came from Poland. Settled in Johnstown Pennsylvania. Originally Kaina was their last name, but they changed it to Kana to hide their ancestry. Alex, or "Curly" was born 13 Jan. 1915. Died 15 Aug. 1956 in Michigan. Due to conflicts between his Catholic family and My Granmother's Baptist Family, my Father and brothers were simply cut out of the Kana family after Curly's death. Looking for my half Aunts.

Sorry, but I doubt any connection. Mine were definitely from Spissky Stiavnik -now Slovakia. And there wasn't an Alex in the bunch. However, if I come across anything that looks similiar I will keep you in mind.
Happy Hunting!
