Michael Kan was born in China in about 1925, adopted by a missionary from the US, and moved to the US where he joined to USAF in about 1957. I believe he spent 20 or 30 years in the Air Force, but I am not sure. Is there anyway to find any information about his life? Please help me find out more about him. Thank you. Brian

You can fax/mail a request to NARA/St Louis for his military file. Specifically ask for his enlistment document - it will show where he enlisted along with names of his adopted parents and addresses. Also request a list of duty stations as this will show where he was based throughout his career. You don't need to be a NOK to receive this info.

I met Michael about 25 years ago and we had a delightful talk. He wrote a biography of his adoptive mother's life. I have a copy and I think it is available in print. I think it was a Methodist publication. I am in China right now, but in a few months will be able to put my hands on the copy I own and get you an ISBN number.

Thank you so much. It must be nice to be in China. I would love to go there! It sounds like you will be there for more than just a visit. I wish that someone would make a movie of her life story. She was such a giver. There aren't too many people like her. I wish that I knew more details about her life. Thank you so much. I hope that I will someday be able to visit China. Brian
