The timing is right but I only know about my great great grandfather's name as Andrej and his wife Marianna. I know that his brother Anthony was younger than him and that they came from Posnan-my great grandfather's wedding certificate. I don't know the year that Andrej was born.
Oh wait, On one of my great grandfather's earlier papers, He is listed as Antoni, although Antek is the Polish for Anthony. Have you found anything with Antoni?
Ahh, this is so frustrating for both of us.
Posnan was considered to be German from time to time.

by the way, where was your family from in the states? We are from the Philadelphia, PA and Camden- Cherry Hill areas in New Jersey. I know that my Great Great grandfather stayed with a Maternal uncle until he settled with his brothe and sister in another home.
