My grandfather's name was John, and he came to this country from Poland sometime between 1900 and 1908. He shortened the name to Kafut and refused to talk about any relatives. He married Magdelena Czupta in 1908. Does this sound familiar to anyone. He spoke of brothers but no names. The family knew where he was, but the would not talk about them. He moved to Hibbing Minnesota in the late teens early 20's and was a miner.

You know whats weird? An ancestor of mine moved to Hibbing, also, and died there! But anyhow, there are many Kalafuts from Eastern Slovakia. Visit www.delphi.com/iarelative and ask about Kalafuts. I even have some in my tree. Go to www.iarelative.com and do a pinpoint search for the name. Good luck!
