The family is German, came to the United states during the rule of the German Queen Anne on the throne of England (co-ruled with her husband) and they were given land in Pennsylvania. Hence, Pennsylvania Dutch(Deutsch). Came to Upper Canada as United Empire Loyalists during the American War of Independence. There--how is that for a history lesson?
