I am looking for the following paternal line:

Starting with Jossel Kagan born approximately 1825 – 1830 in Shkud moved to Libeu (both in Lithuania) and died in Liepaja (Latvia). He married Henna (?)

He had three sons we know of:

Juda Leib
Shaya
Ephraim

Ephraim ws born 1850 and died in 1927. He married Hassa Brickman and they had:

Feige Hinde 1876
Rose 1877
Ber 1879
Ben 1880
Shalom 1881
Ephriam 1883
Leiser (Elaser) 1886

My grandfatrher married Fanny Brickman from Liepaja (Latvia). Prior to that he spent time in Johannesburg South Africa where his two above mentioned brothers settled and their decedents live there, Brazil (or Argentina) and Australia

Ephraim changed his name to Fred and he and Fanny had three children
Arrived in the US in 1912
Benjamin 1913 Newark , NJ
Irving (Isadora or Israel) 1914 Newark , NJ
Edith 1916 Newark , NJ

Fanny died in 1928 of cancer and Fred married Sarah Borjinsky who had a daughter born about 1916 Goldie from a previous relationship

If there are any links please let me know. Thank you

Surnames: Kagan, Kahn, Cohen,
Here is the information on the family...Jossel Kagan born about 1830 had at least four sons Judah Shaya Zussman and Abraham all in the 1850s. Shaya (born had in the 1870 died in 1927) had at east three kids: Feige, Joseph and Sore. The family did move to South Africa to a number of location Durbin being one of them. In the family tree there is a number of Davidowitz still in South Africa they are Rivak (passed), Abba, Ella, Israel, Mendel, Malka, Nathan, Abraham, Alexander, Aaron and a few more who only have last names listed many are also related to the Abrams family. If any of this sounds familiar I can pass along the name of the family historian and he can validate the link in the family? Where do you live now? Our family in around the world, Australia, South America, Israel, US, Canada, Lithuania, Russia, Brazil, Argentina.

When I started the search we knew of only seven cousins and only our father. We linked to Avron who opened the world to the family and we now have 1404 relatives on the family tree.

Let me know either ay if you think you are or are not connected. Sounds like you might be.

I am not sure I know that my grandfather and his brother and sister were the only ones to leave lithuania in the late 1920, perhaps and that he alone went to Durban, and that his sister went to England and had family thereafter in leeds 2 sons Morris and David Herbert, and the other brother or sister went to New York and I think changed their last name to Kempler.Davidowitz was my dad,s last name and he had one brother and his family was from Poland.I live in San Francisco(now Cecille Santos) I have a sister Marilyn Perel in Israel.I have other family in Israel but not sure of their names. I think he had a cousin hershel in Israel. I don't know if we are related somehow could be possible if I could figure out who my grandfather was related to on your side of the family. I am also not sure of the way my grandfather's name was spelled as in South africa it was changed to Soloman Kahn. Let me know what you think if anything sounds familiar,Cecille.

The person to contact is Avron Cohen he has the most complete family records and just returned from Latvia and Lithuania where he discovered new information. His email address is avronc@exemail.com.au. He is in Sydney Australia. It does sound like there is a good chance you are related in some way as most of the family changed the name from Kagan to Kahn or Cohen. Some of the family did end up in England (some in Ireland) and many in South Africa. He is your best chance to locate a connection if there is one. All the best in your search. Life is Good David
