Re: Wiktorya Kagan of Wadowice, Poland
Carol, I am not sure if we are talking about the same person. My Wiktorya was born about 1891, came to the US in 1907 and married Tomaz Michonski in 1911 in Chicopee, Mass. Her father was Jan Kagan and her mother was Kathyrn Polka. Could she be a neice of your Wiktorya?
Let me know what you think! Thanks!

Re: Wiktorya Kagan of Wadowice, Poland
Hi My Wiktorya was married to Josef Kagan and had five sons. One was Peter. Some of the sons came to the USA and one lived in Chicopee , Mass. These sons were born in the 1870's in Wadowice , Poland. So I am thinking this Wiktorya could be a Granddaughter to my Wiktorya. Girls were often named after a relative.Do you know who Jan Kagans parents were? Or if he had any Brothers? Did they live on a farm in Poland. Carol

Re: Wiktorya Kagan of Wadowice, Poland
Hi Carol,
I'll bet there is some connection between the 2 families. My Wiktorya had a son she named Peter. He was born in 1914 in Chicopee Falls. I have found her on the Ellis Island web site arriving in New York in 1907, going to Chicopee Falls to stay with her brother Jan Kagan. Her passage was paid by her father (also a Jan Kagan). She was 4' 7" tall and had blond hair and blue eyes. I've looked at the 1910 census index and the 1920 Census for Jan Kagan but cannot find him in Chicopee Falls.
I don't know who her grandparents were and whether they lived on a farm in Wadowice.

Re: Wiktorya Kagan of Wadowice, Poland
Please keep in touch . If you can identify Jan's parents or his brothers let me know. I have further information about the ancestors. Who were the wives of the Jan Kagan's? I am searching the LDS films of Wadowice, Poland , so the more information I have the better to identify these people. According to my family the five sons of Joseph and Wiktorya Midura Kagan all had red hair.my email is cking007@maine.rr.comCarol

Re: Wiktorya Kagan of Wadowice, Poland
Hi Julie,
Thanks for the info on Joseph Kagan, son of Jan and Katarzyna Polka Kagan. I've tried finding the parents on the 1910 Census of Chicopee but have been unsuccessful.
I did find Wiktorya on the Ellis Island website but she came alone to Chicopee. Can't find her parents or siblings on it.
This is one tough family to find!
Thanks again!
Pauline

Re: Wiktorya Kagan of Wadowice, Poland
I've found Jan (John) Kagan, wife Katarzyna and children Victoria, Maryanna, Joseph and Apolina on the 1910 Census of Chicopee, Mass. They were living at 13 West Main Street. Victoria (my husband's grandmother was 18, Maryanna was 16, Joseph was 8 and Apolinia was 4 years old. The two youngest had just come from Poland in 1910 with their mother.
Now I need to find Jan and Katarzyna's deaths in Massachusetts.
