I have an Edward Donahoe who moved to Illinois from upstate NY in the 1870's or 80's. Two of his brothers, Thomas and Joseph also went there. Another brother, John, became a Priest in NY. If you think there is any connection here please let me know.

My great-grandfather is Earl Kaffer of Joilet, Illinois. He had three sons- Donald Kaffer, Roger Kaffer, and Robert (Bobby) Kaffer. The oldest son was my grandfather, Donald Kaffer. He had nine children, one of which was my father, John Kaffer. Given the tradition in my family of naming children for older family members, I suspect there is a relationship between Earl and the John Kaffer you are seeking information on.
