I am looking for Henry William or William Henry's relatives. His name was spelt Kackel,Kakel Kachel. He originally came from Cassel in Germany being born there in 1833. But by 1857 he had married Albania Muench and they lived in Stepney and he was a master baker.

I am stunned to see your message - I had given up hope of ever finding anyone researching KAKEL!!!!
My paternal grandfather was George KAKEL, born 1904 in Greenwich, England. His birth cert lists his father as William KAKEL (occupation Baker) and mother as Sarah HAWKES.
I have never been able to get a clue as to what part of Germany William KAKEL was from, although an older relative believed that he returned to Germany before the First World War leaving his wife and children in England, and never returned.

I look forward to hearing from you! My e-mail is:

Hi Peter,
I do already have that info, but thanks anyway.I was hoping that he had brothers etc.As because he had three girls his line must have died out.Are you related to the Muench side?
Best Wishes

We are first cousins Karen. My father - who passed away a year ago - was your mum's brother, David Lawson (Lawson was my maiden name). I wasn't aware anyone else in the family on the UK side was tracing our family tree...now I know, I am happy to send you what I have on the Kakel family. Please e-mail me directly at mulgan@xtra.co.nz.

I believe the William Kakel living in Greenwich on the 1901census is my g/grandfather. My grandfather, also called William was his youngest son, born in 1915. His mothers maiden name was Hawkes.

I'm not sure how Henry William Kakel fits into the picture, as he had 3 daughters, around the 1860's. I think? He is also the only Kakel in the 19th century to recieve a certificate of naturalization, #2789 dated 17 November 1858, originating from Hesse??

I would dearly love to hear from anyone who has been researching the name, some of whom I must be related to.

My e-mail is philkakel@tiscali.co.uk
