Aloha Kim,
Mahalo for responding,And I had a question on the names John and George. My great great grandfather is John Lihau Kaaihue(DOB1897) and his brother was Gearge Kaaihue is this the same names you have? John married a Kahaleuahi and Gearge married a Waiwaiole. So is the KAAIHUE family originated from KA'U? ANd another thing is said by some Kupunas is The name Kaaihue was changed from KAMAKA!!! SO something I have to look for and find out! Mahalo

I have the 1910 13th census report. listed are Kala Kaaihue 24 wife Elizabeth Kamaka 20
son Abraham 1 (they had more children)One of which was George (Lahina)I also have a John Kaaihue 64 married but I don't have to whom. The morman church has the cencus index.I copied quite a few of the actual numerators reports. These are held on microfilm. A few years back I heard the Kaaihue line was big,(approx. 6000), also the Social Security Death index has 67 listings re-Kaaihue's. About Kamaka I have not heard of the name changing to Kaaihue.I did heard the name translated means thief, but back in the days of chiefs the name ment Ka=the ai=belt hue=group.I believe they were canoe builders, for the royals.

Some stories which was told to me regaurding the Kaaihue family came and from Hawaiian Geneologist Mahi Poepoe. When she asked me what family I come from and I stated KAAIHUE. she told me to be proud of who I am and where I come from Because the Kaaihue Family come from High Cheif KAMAKA and KEAWE. If you now Sam Kaai He said that the Kaaihue family comes from the line of KEALIIMAIKAI which was KAMEHAMEHA'S younger brother. KEALIIMAIKAI came to Maui and married Wahinealiikaaihue and thats the line we come from. And I now for for a fact that all familys which came from KA'U are of chiefly lineage. The meaning of the name KAAIHUE I found ment SOMEONE WHO IS TAKEN SECRETLY. Mahalo

My aunty and I are researching for our ancestors. My grandmother is Irene Bertha Kaaihue(DOB 5/8/1928). Her father's name was George C. Kaaihue (DOB 3/23/1905). Her mother's name was Cornelia Waiwaiole (DOB 2/24/1906). Her father was from Kaupo and mother from Puuiki, Hana. I can't seem to find any information about Irene's grandparents (father's parents). Irene's grandparents name are George or Lihau Kaaihue and Clara Hooipo (Pake). Hope this helps.

Aloha,
I recently read your pala'pala and I am intrested in your findings of the Ohana KAAIHUE. My great grandmother is also a KAAIHUE. Her name is Josephine Nalani Kaaihue Maihui. Kaaihue is her maiden name and Maihui is her married name.
She married Paul Maihui & they both were born in Kaupo, Maui. I don't know much about the KAAIHUE Ohana but I would like to learn of them. I know that we are all related, but how? Is what I Don't know. Feel free to write me anytime at

Aloha,
George Kaaihue had a brother name John Lihau Kaaihue and a sister name Kealohali'ili'i, all born in Kaupo, Maui, There father was Ololua Kaaihue, but he had so many first names, And there mother was Kalala Ho'oipo or Clara Ho'oipo, who was married about 8x's. My great grandmother was raised by Ho'oipo and she is the daughter of John Lihau Kaaihue and Ceicilia Kahaleuahi. George married Waiwaiole who was from Pukuilua, Hana, Maui. Waiwaiolecomes under the HewaHewa line with Puou. I have the genealogy linking up to Umialiloa.
