I am a living historian who lives in Niles, Michigan on the banks of the Saint Joseph River. I am also a member of a group called Support The Fort, Inc. The reason I am contacting this board is that Compte de Jumonville was the son of the commandant of Fort Saint Joseph [1691-1781] for about 30 years. He was the one killed during the attack on the French by the Virginia planters, including George Washington. His brother from the fort here went to avenge his death. I am wondering what the connection is, if any, to the Jumonville families listed here. You can visit
www.supportthefort.org to find out more about our group and fort. There is also info about the archaeological dig done by Western Michigan University this last June. As a living historian it might be nice to know if there are any of his family still alive. Thank you for responding if you do. For those of you looking for more information about the family, we have plenty of that.
Regards, Jan Personette
