DAVENPORT -- Memorial services for Dr. Sharon L. Jugenheimer, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Davenport, Iowa will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation is 3-6 p.m. today at the mortuary. Dr. Jugenheimer died after an extended illness.
She was born July 14, 1955, in Davenport, Iowa to Wayne Jugenheimer and Lois Hamann Frye. Growing up, Sharon always helped her parents on the farm.
She developed a passion for taking care of animals, especially horses.
After graduating from North Scott High School, Eldridge, Iowa, she graduated cum laude from Iowa State University, Ames, where she earned her doctorate of veterinarian medicine, specializing in equine practice.
She was licensed to practice in Illinois, Tennessee and Florida
. Her most recent practice was at a veterinary clinic in Lakeland.
She loved the outdoors and country life, which included a strong interest in riding motorcycles. She was a member of various veterinary and animal protection associations.
Memorials may be made to the Scott County Humane Society.
Survivors include her parents, Wayne and Sandy Jugenheimer, Sun City West, Arizona and Lois and Howard Frye, Davenport; brother, Bill and his wife Joyce Jugenheimer, Anthem, AZ; a sister, Amelia Linder, Columbia, S.C.; a stepbrother, Marty and his wife Janelle, Davenport; and her grandmother, Dorothy Steffen, Bettendorf.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane, in 1990.
