Looking for descendants of, and any information on, this family:
Dallas Polk Judd (1845--1918) born and died in Wake County, North Carolina (son of John William Judd and Melinda Dennis), married in 1867 to Christiana Northington Norris (1842-1917), also born and died in Wake County. (daughter of Samuel Pearson Norris and Martha "Patsy" Northington).
7 Children (per Christiana Norris Judd's 1900 census record), all born in Wake County, North Carolina:
--James D. Judd (1870/71--??) AKA James Dallas Judd. Married Olla Ann Jones. James spent many of his career years as a wholesale lumber dealer in and around Wake County, North Carolina. Olla Jones Judd's 1941 death certificate states that she was "widowed". Some internet family trees give James' date of death as 1930, but I find no record of him after 1922.
--Jesse Ernest Judd (1873/75--1929). He was a dentist, practicing for a number of years in Brooklyn (Kings County), New York. A North Carolina death certificate was issued for him in 1929, but he may have died in New York. He is buried in McNeill's Dist., Moore County, North Carolina.
--Merriman Carl Judd (1880-1970) AKA M. Carl Judd. Married Lilly Herman Bradley. *Edited to add that they divorced in 1916. He spent a number of years in Washington, D.C. and Michigan, where he married and divorced for a second time. He died in Tampa, Florida in 1970.
--Cara Belle Judd AKA Cora Bell Judd (died unmarried and childless)
*Edited to add that I have found a quite detailed newspaper article describing her wedding to James H. Wright of Vance, North Carolina. The wedding took place on 14 Oct 1891 in Holly Springs, Wake County, North Carolina, making the transcribed date of death on her headstone of 1 Sept 1891 incorrect, but she does seem to have died before 1900.
--Beulah Vesta Judd (died unmarried and childless)
--Apparently 2 other children that were not living by 1900
Questions:
1.--What is the source of 1930 as the date of James Dallas Judd's death? Where is he buried? (I can find no death record for James and he is not buried with the rest of the family). I am very interested in communicating with ANY descendants of James, or with anyone that may know more about him and/or about his descendants.
2.--Did M. Carl Judd have children other than the one daughter (Mary Lilly Judd) that was born during his marriage to Lilly Bradley? Did he marry again after his 1938 divorce in Detroit? I am interested in communicating with any descendants of M. Carl, or with anyone who may know more about him and/or about his descendants.
3.--Dallas Polk Judd and wife Christiana were separated by 1900 (don't know original date of separation) and apparently had not reconciled by the time she died in 1917. Were they officially divorced? If so, when?
4.--Could Christiana possibly have had another child, born 1882-1884, perhaps outside of her marriage and raised by someone else? Some sources state that her mother Martha Ann Northington (wife of Samuel Pearson Norris) had a child out of wedlock before she married Samuel. Could Christiana have also had a child outside of her marriage?
4.--Jesse Ernest Judd's 1929 death certificate states that he was "divorced" at the time of his death. Who was his wife and were there children born to the marriage? Where was he buried? Are there living descendants? *Edited to add that I believe he may have married Albertine Cochrane in Brooklyn, New York in 1901, but they seem to have been separated or divorced before 1918. Still would like to know if there are any living descendants.
5.--What is correct date of death of Cara Belle/Cora Bell Judd? Does she have living descendants?
6.--Are there ANY photos of James D., M. Carl, and/or Jesse Ernest Judd or anyone else in this family? If so, where?
7.--Are there any descendants of anyone in this family that have been DNA tested (particularly Y-DNA and/or atDNA)--or that are willing to be tested? If so, I would love to speak with you.
If you are (or know someone who is) a descendant in any way of this family, please, please, let me hear from you.
Thanks very much,
Christy Jordan-Frank
