In case you haven't already made the Sheasby / Jubber connection, here is a link that will show you what you need. I am a descendant of Enid Sheasby, daughter of Frances Dorrell Jubber.

http://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:James_Sheasby_%282%29
Hello there
I just noted your family connection to Eydon and wondered whether I could be of any help? I am secretary of the Eydon Historical Research Group so we have access to a lot of information, plus I live in the village so I can always get you a few local snaps. We have just set up a new website at www.eydonhistoricalresearchgroup.org which may be of interest to you. If you have any documents or photos relating to Eydon they may be of great help to us, so I would really appreciate a copy. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards, Alison

Re: SHEASBY

I have some information, although I've not managed to tie these SHEASBY into my wife's line.

Joseph SHEASBY (~1803 to before 1881) married Ann HIGHAM (1817 to possibly 1892) in 1844 - she is his second wife, he had 5 children by his first wife Elizabeth. Joseph and Ann had two daughters (Sarah Ann 1857-1875, Maria 1845-?). Maria had a (illegitimate?) daughter Mary Catherine in 1867. I have 1841 and 1851 census records for Joseph and Ann, along with 1881 for Ann (although I can't find her in 1892 so the death in IGI is only a possible).

Emma HIGHAM (1820 to 1895, Ann's sister) married Charles SHEASBY (~1821 to after 1891) on the same day in 1844, at the same place. I'm not sure whether Charles is Joseph's brother - Charles is the son on Joseph & Sarah. Charles and Emma had 7 children that I've found. Mary Ann (the 7th) made life hard for genealogists by marrying Thomas SHEASBY in 1875.

It's also odd that another person from Eydon pops up married to a SHEASBY at the same time - this is Jane (~1813 to after 1891), married to William (~1816 to before 1881). The bits of HIGHAM stuff in IGI etc don't show a Jane with these dates.

If you want any more details let me know.

hi karen
I was very pleased and suprised to see your message because we have been trying to track down my grandfather,s family in S, Africa for years, a Percy, or Percival Mackenzie Jubber married my grandmother, a Anna Enslen in the early 1900,s, (have the date somewhere, can find it later) the Enslen family are well recorded but have never been able to fine anything on Percy M. Jubber. He was recorded as having been born in S. Africa, so must have been around the 1880,s or 90,s.
MyMother emigrated to England in the late 1940,s and married my Father, an Englishman, so have never been to S. Africa.
All ionformation welcome, my e mail is ornithogalum19@yahoo.es
regards marianne

My great grand-mother was a Jubber

HiKaren

My great-grandmother was HARRIETT JUBBER, born 8 June 1835 the daughter of JOSEPH JUBBER and his first wife ANN SMITH.

Harriett's father was baptised at St Dunstan Stepney on 2 March 1800 and died at Leamington, Warwickshire 1878.
He was a pastrycook.
He had a sister ANN born 1798, died 1876 and Jane born 1802.

He married Ann Smith at St Botolph, Bishopsgate, London on 22 September 1833.
He remarried on 3 November 1842 at St Michael's Coventry. He second wife was Ann Smith, who died on 16 January 1889 at Leamington.
Joseph and Ann had one daughter Susanna, born 18 February 1844 at Lambeth. On 4 March 1866 she married William Collins. (The marriage was at St John's Triangle Roman Catholic Church, Hackney - the Jubbers were Church of England.)

Joseph Jubber was the son of JOSEPH JUBBER and SUSANNA DOTTIN who were married on 28 June 1788 at St Leonard's Shoreditch. Joseph died at Stepney on March 1834 and Susanna there on 28 July 1838.

My great grand-mother came to Nw Zealand in November 1862 and on 19 April 1863 she married Edward McGraw at the Roman Catholic Church in Dunedin. I am decscended from their daughter Eliza Ann born 1873. By this time Edward was using the name James Clark.

Edward McGraw/James Clark died after falling through a Lighthouse on 23 May 1883. Harriet remarried on 30 December 1886. Her second husband was Daniel McKay. Harriett died on 21 November 1914 and Daniel on 2 September 1916.

Guess you've already found Phil Jubber's website. But just in case you haven't it is at http://www.hitech.net.au/pjubber/

I only recently got a computer and Internet access. I haven't done any genealogy for years, but would really like to know how the Jubbers are related and get back beyond my great great great grand-father.

Bye

Yvonne Chisholm
Hi Caroline

I'm also in New Zealand and I have Jubber ancestory as one of my great grand-mother's was HARRIETT JUBBER, born 8 June 1835 the daughter of JOSEPH JUBBER and his first wife ANN SMITH. While Harriett always says she was born in Coventry, England it is more likely she was born in London.

Harriett came to Dunedin in 1862 and married her first husband there in 1863. She returned to Port Chlamers near Dunedin after she was widowed when great-grandfather fell through Dog Island lighthouse in 1883. She reamarried in 1886 and died in Port Chalmers in 1914.

You can read more about my Jubbers in my reply to Karen Meeks-Carter listed above. Also if you haven't do visit Phillip Jubber's website (also mentioned in that reply).

About 10 years ago I visited Jubber's in Tawa, Wellington. While we could not find a connection we had a pleasant evening.

Regards

Yvonne
James Thompson Jubber

Hi

Does anyone have information on James Thompson Jubber whose wife Charlotte was the informant of the civil registration of the death of my great-great grand-mother Susan Jubber in 1838?

James Thompson Jubber's occupation was given as fellowship porter and his address as 3 Duke Street (suburb not given but Susan's death was registered in Mile End Old Town in Stepney, Middlesex.)

Susan's husband was Joseph Jubber mariner. His death is recorded (as is Susan's) in the parish register of St Dunstan Stepney in 1834 with his age given as 78 years.

I am interested in finding out what was the relationship between James Thompson Jubber and my great-great grandfather Joseph Jubber.

Susan (nee Dottin) and Joseph Jubber who were married at St Leonard's Shoreditch in 1788 had three children I know of:

Ann baptised 29 April 1798, died 23 May 1876 (did not marry)
Joseph (my great grand-father) baptised 2 March 1800 died 31 March 1878
Jabe baptised 22 August 1802, died 20 March 1891 (did not marry)

All were baptised at St Dunstan, Stepney who was a gap in the baptism records between 1788-1798.

All clues welcome. I wouild love to get my family tree back beyond James Jubber, mariner.

I was born and raised in South Africa. I am now in the United Kingdom, London. I am in the retail field at the moment but really want to return to S.A. to further my studies. I'm planning on studing Civil Engineering, so I'm working to generate the funds.

I am really surprise at finding this web site.

Hi All,

I am the descendant of a JUBBER born in South Africa. Due to the fact that a family folktale seems to have permiated a number of lines who until recently seemed un-related, I have decided to try and trace all or as many as possible of the occurences of the JUBBER surname worldwide.

I am also intersted in any line that may have married in this family. For instance in Australia the family married into the StLeger family a couple of times and would be interested in hearing from anyone willing to share information in this regard.

Other interests.
SHAW, WHITEHEAD, WYLDE, MEEKS, OVERTON,OXENHAM, HARRIS (Cornwall), CROSS, WEBBER, LITTLEFIELD, TROLLIP, TRUTER, SHEASBY to name but a few.

Please contact me if you should think there is anything I might help you with or you might have that ties into my lines.

Cheers for now

Karen Meeks-Carter

Paul Sheasby Family Tree

There are a lot of Sheasby's in the Rugby area. Have you tried the Family Search Internet Genealogy Service. Your Grandmother may know the name of your grandfather's father and you could start there, allowing about twenty to thirty years between benerations. I'll look through my own notes too.
