The surname Jubar is quite a unique one, one that seemingly has no origins. I have seen it spelled as Jubar,Jubert, and Joubert, the latter two being french spellings and pronounced "zhoobair". I have been told that they were french canadian. I believe that a possibility exists that this is a very very old name. There was a little prince born on the Muslim-Iberian (Moorish Spain) by the name of Ibn Jubayr. He walked from Sicily to Riyadh,Saudi Arabia documenting his journey in a well printed travel guide. The problem is, the time was 1100 AD. Ibn in arabic means "son of". If you search the surname Jubayr on google, you will run into many arabic names. I know that many of the french who fled to canada were of arabic descent way back when, hence the darker colorings of much of the french. Anyway, I have no way of proving this right now, but it does seem quite plausible.
