I estimated that my great grandfather was born around 1850 in the Filipinas. Do you know if your family came to the Philippine Islands with Magellan?

I am a Juan descendant. My mother is a Filipina, Maria Juan Garma and I am looking for Juans from the towns of Piddig and Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. Her father was Andres Juan.
|
I am interested in the Juans of the Philippines. Particularly those from Ilocos Norte.

I'm not sure if we are related at all. My father's father side were from Dingras, Ilocos Norte. I remember him telling us before that his relatives were spread through out Dingras, Pigdig (I'm not sure if that's how you spell it), and Laoag. My grandfather had a sister named Maria. I'm not sure though, if she was married. Well...not much information but this might help. According to my dad, any Juan from Ilocos Norte should be somewhat related.

I'm curious. According to the family myth, the Juan ancestors were originally from Spain. Perhaps, it is true!

Juan is a Spanish name; it is also a name that was assigned to several natives including Filipinos, Mexicans and Latin Americans who were under Spanish rule for almost 400 years. This is because they could not pronounce the natives' names.
