I am looking into my family tree and have managed to get back to 1851 through the census records. The earliest I can find is William Joynes (born abt 1816) who was married to Mary (born in Dumbleton abt 1805). William was a carpenter and later a grocer. They had 4 children. Elizabeth (born abt 1839), Fanny (born abt 1841), Hester (born abt 1844) and George (born abt 1847). I am a descendant of George.
I have found that Elizabeth and Fanny later went into service and George became a carpenter and wheelwright. He later married Sarah A possibly around 1868, but that is more of an educated guest at this stage. Her maiden name is not known.
They had an assortment of children. Florence M Joynes, born in about 1872 would be my great great grandmother. I would love to find out more information about Florence.
I am running dry here and haven't been able to find any of my family mentioned in the 1871 census records, so any tips or information there would also be of interest to me. I lose track of the girls and I assume it's due to marriage. I don't really understand the marriage details that come up, so I may have missed some obvious clues!
Anyway, if you share any of my ancesters, I would love to hear from you.
