Need help with this mystery: in the familysearch.org records I found John P. Adams married Jane Handlon/Hanlon on 04 April 1872 and John P. Adams married Charlotte Handlon/Hanlon on 11 Feb 1874. Also found records for the births of two sons for John Adams and Charlotte Handlin/Hanlan.
They are Charles Wesley Adams born 25 Dec 1874 and Harvey Francis Adams born 15 Feb 1878. In the 1880 Census for Monroe County, Ohio, I found John Adams as head of household and his daughter, Mary M. age 7. He is listed as a widow so his wife is deceased. Also living with them are Mary A. Hanlon, his mother-in-law and her two youngest children: James W. Hanlon and Julia A. Hanlon. I know Mary Ann had two daughters named Nancy Jane and Charlotte and so it appears that (Nancy) Jane died when her daughter was born in 1873 and so her widower married her sister, Charlotte, who then bore him two sons. The question is what happened to Charlotte and two sons? I cannot find them anywhere in the 1880 Census. I can't find those two boys in any Census or at least the younger one--I did find a couple possibilities for Charles Wesley as an adult.
Does anyone know what happened to Charlotte? Did she also die after giving birth? Did the son die also? Where is Charles Wesley in 1880? Perhaps there was an epidemic or a natural disaster that occurred and they all died. Would like to solve this mystery. Help!!!
