I am coming into this because of the supposed Pharez Phelps connection. It is not Pharez but Orange Phelps whose decendants match YDNA of Amasa Joslin. Orange was illegitimate son of Elizabeth Soper and a some point was given name of Phelps. There has been speculation for a while whether Pharez was father. My son recently had his YDNA tested which matches Amasa. A few years ago a third cousin of my husband also descendant of Orange had a similar result. There was a man living in Milton VT at that time, 1793, named Benjamin Joslin and his son Israel Joslin was Elizabeth's age. Benjamin's father was also named Israel and was an immigrant from England. He had quite a few sons and I wonder if Amasa is a descendant of this man. The Joslins on Ancestry are in quite a tangle so it is hard to tell.
