Vance,

It has been a while since you last posted this. My name is Robert Ford. I am the son of Nancy Jonas, who is the daughter of Lloyd Terry Jonas, who is the son of John Terry Jonas who is the son of James Newton Jonas.

The relative from California was my uncle Tommy. Most of his materials was given to my mother and I have been helping her do some family history research. One of the walls that we have hit in our research is regarding the birth of John Jonas (James Newton's father). This question has been asked in other locations in the past and I am hoping that someone has found something. Below is all the information that I have regarding John

Birth: 1807 Maryland, Pennsylvania (we believe that he is from a town on the border between the two states). We have seen Tennessee mentioned in another census but believe that is incorrect.
Marriage: Lydia King 25 Feb 1837, Perry County, Ohio
Census 1840: Long Swamp, Berks, Pennsylvania
Census 1850: Pike Township, Perry, Ohio - Occupation of Farmer
Military: from 16 Aug 1861 (mustered on 28 Aug 1861) through 28 April 1862 (I have seen some documents that mention 1863) - 30th Ohio Infantry Company D.
Census 1870: Pike, Perry, Ohio - Occupation of Day Laborer
Census 1880: Pike, Perry, Ohio - Occupation of Shoe Maker
Death: 28 Mar 1891 - New Lexington, Perry, Ohio
Burial: 28 Mar 1891 - New Lexington Cemetery

Children:
Mary Jane Jonas, Birth: 26 Nov 1837, Marriage: 12 Sep 1908 Isaac Reed (a previous marriage is known, the last name of the spouse was Dusenberry), Death: 30 Sep 1913, Burial: 2 Oct 1913
James Newton Jonas, Born 21 Jul 1849, Marriage 1 Dec 1870 Caroline Atteberry, Moved to Texas in 1876, Moved to Jacksboro 1878, Deatd 29 Feb 1932, Burial 29 Feb 1932 in Salt Creek Cemetery (also known as Dark Creek Cemetery).
Rachel Jonas, Birth around 1840 in Perry Ohio
Harriet Jonas, Birth 25 Oct 1840, Married to Mr. Whitman (not sure when), Death 6 Sep 1840
Charlotte Jonas, Birth 11 Mar 1842, Death 17 Jul 1844, Burial 17 July 1844
William J. Jonas, Birth around 1844, Death 8 Feb 1909, Burial 8 Feb 1909, Occupation of Farmer
Jesse A Jonas, Birth around 1846, Death 6 Oct 1863
Lucy Jonas, Birth 4 Aug 1846, Death 4 May 1929, Burial 7 May 1929, and married to Jerome Rowe (not sure when they got married or where, he died before she did).
Jermiah King Jonas, Birth 18 May 1850, Death 22 Dec 1937, Burial 25 Dec 1937, Married to Della Dusenberry (not sure where or when), occupation was Coal Miner. also on the 1850 Census (the year he was born) the name listed was James Jonas instead of Jermiah. We are not sure at what point he started going by a different name.

Any additional information regarding John would be helpful. If there is any information that I can provide please let me know.
