My hope in starting this board is to hear from others who have the surname Jolibois in their trees. I have come across a few "dit" names for Jolibois. They are as follows;
Philibert
Cacrel
Caruelle

Ave
Mayrand
Peincette
I am the descendant of Jean Baptiste Peincette s/o JB Peincette and M. Marguerite Fortier married 1767-10-05 to M. Louise Bourdeau d/o Pierre and Amable Pominville. I have only found 6 children from this marriage;
1)J.B. 1768-01-26 m.1795-02-16 Marie Anne Theirry;
thier children; J.B. 1795-11-06, Marie Catherine 1797-04-18, Joseph 1799-09-02
2)Pierre 1777-01-11 m. 1797-10-02 Catherine Brossard
3)Joseph 1779-04-19
4)Marie Louise 1781-03-08 m. 1799-10-14 Gabriel Gagnier
5)Louis 1784-07-23 m. 1814-06-21 Assumption (Essex County, Ontario, Canada) Angelica Poissant dit Lassaline
6)Dorothee 1794-06-29
My line stems from Louis who moved at some point to the Detroit River Region and settled in Assumption where he and Angelica had 10 children. Louis was drowned 1837-09-19 and buried 1837-10-01 in Assumption. They attended Assumption Catholic Church where through the years phonetic mispellings and the use of one name evolved to the name Bensette. This is the surname of Louis descendants in the Windsor, Essex County, Ontario area today.
My grandmother told how one of her great grandfathers was a Coureur de Bois and that there is also an Indian/Native grandmother in this line. Given the date differences in the birth of J.B.'s children I am wondering if he was the Coureur de Bois.
I would be interested in hearing from any one who descends from the surname Jolibois and exchange info with those of the Peincette line.
