!WILL: IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN - May 17, 1806 - I Thomas John of Washington County and State of Virginia being very weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God, therefore call unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for men once to die, do make & ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all I recommend my sole to almighty God who gave it, and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the power of Almighty God, And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to Bless me in this life, I give demise, and bequeath in the following manner, and first - the expenses of a decent burial to be given to my executors and 2nly all that is found to be belonging to me to be equally divided among Martha Harris, and Thomas Thomas and Abijah Thomas, and the children of Anna Martin deceased, __ the fourth part of my estate to be equally divided among them, And make and ordain Thomas Thomas, and Abijah Thomas to be Executor of this my last will and Testament, and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke, and disannul all and every other former wills, Testaments __, bequest by me in any ways before named willed and bequeath ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament, in witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written, Signed Sealed & declared by the Thomas John as his last will and testament in the presence of

At a Court held for Washington County the 18th day of June 1806 - The last Will & Testament of Thomas John decd was produced by the executor proven by the oaths of Reuben Debord & John Thomas the subscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Thomas Thomas & Abijah Thomas the executors therein named which took the oath of an executor prescribed by law & entered into & acknowledged then bond with Arthur Bowen & Robert Crow their securities the sum of five hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs a certificate granted them for the probate of the said Will in due form. - Source - Washington County, Virginia Will Book, 3.
