"Hi" again Mary. Just wanted to share the only real source that I found on BOTH Mary (Mars) Ruskamp, & her husband Francis Ruskamp. I found this during one of my Ancestry.com searches.
[Ruskamp Mary, wid. Francis, midwife, h 94 G'wich]
The small "h" indicates that this was Mary's home address & she is listed as Francis'widow in this NYC 1869 Directory.
Sure wish I could find her on the US New York City Census to see if my GGM Annie was listed as part of the household. I remember hearing my Dad or one of my paternal cousins talk about both my GGM Annie & my GM Louise working as Mid-Wives at sometime during their lives. This would make sense, since in those days the daughters were often enlisted as assistants to their mothers who performed the duties of delivering babies.
Please do write me about information & sources that causes you to believe that it was your GGGrandmother's sister who died at 120 Cedar Street. What was your GGGrandmother's name? What was her link to Mars or Ruskamp? If her maiden name was Mars, then she was probably sister to my GGGrandmother Mary E. (Mars) Ruskamp. If her maiden name was Ruskamp, then she could have been sister to Francis Ruskamp. Oh, how I would love to fit a few more pieces of this puzzle together. :-) Most sincerely, Pat
