Thank you.

Hello Kim,
How very nice to hear from you and Thank you so much for all the information. It is very much appreciated. I have been unable to back my David up any further until you gave me the previous information and I was so pleased as I have been trying to back up his family as far as possible for some time without much success. I do have Herbert John's birthdate as Aug 21 1881 in Rainham, Essex, England and also his marriage to my Great Grandmother, Emma Smith (Simpson), (she was married previously to Thomas Smith), at St Andrews Church in Hornchurch on 30/3/1907. Herbert and Emma came to Canada shortly after their marriage and lived in Saskatchewan, where I grew up. They returned to England once for a time about 1920 and returned to Canada again in 1925 where they lived until they passed away. I won't confuse you with so many details anymore, but did want to say how much I do appreciate your help. Any names, dates or places concerning Herbert's ancestors is very much appreciated. Thank you again and Best Wishes, Molly

Hi Molly, Thank you for the information, I have been in touch with Kim as well. The family came from Benfleet in Essex which is near to Southend. The family then went to Orsett and then to Rainham. Several members of the family worked at a large house called Orsett Hall, this is were my g/grandparents met. The house still exists and is now a Hotel. I lived in Hornchurch for most of my youth and members of my family still live in the area. Please get in touch if there is anything you wish to know.
P.S. If you have difficulty signing into Genes Reunited I think you may have signed in to the wrong part.

The 1861 census has just become available online, this has given a bit more information about Joseph Jiggins. his place of birth is Thundersley, Essex which is close to Benfleet and Hadleigh. His two eldest sons David(10) and James(7) are described as ploughboys. The address I have identified from an old map as Hall Cottages,Torells Hall, LittleThurrock,Essex.

dear molly
I have recently begun to trace my husbands family on his mothers side, and it appears we have a connection. My husbands great grandfather was George Jiggins born in Rainham c1875. He later married an Eleanor Newman c1880 and they had 5 children

Hello Carolyn,
How very nice to hear from you. I am not sure how much I can help you, but will be very happy to do all that I can.
I am not sure if the George in my tree is the same as yours, but perhaps you will know if I give you the baptism date I have for my George. I have George James Jiggins bpt 7/3/1875 at Rainham, Essex, England. He is the son of David Jiggins born 1851 at Hadleigh, Essex and Eliza Ann Turner born 16/4/1854 at Hadleigh, Essex. The above George James Jiggins was the brother of my Herbert John Jiggins.
I suspect this would be your George Jiggins, but perhaps you could confirm it and I will look forward to hearing from you again. If you would prefer direct email contact with me, please feel free to do so at my email address provided on this site.
Best Wishes,
Molly
