Could the David Jiggins you mention be the same one born c.1851 in Benfleet Essex England. He was living in Rainham Essex during 1881,1891,1901 census. If it is the same David, would you know who his parents were? I am trying to find a connection between him and my greatgrandfather James Jiggins.I think they were brothers but I cannot prove this.Any information you have I would be grateful.

Hi Kim,

I'm afraid I don't know anything about my David Jiggins, other than he appears on Eliza Jiggins' marriage certificate as her father. If I find out anything I will certainly let you know.

Good luck with your hunting

Eileen

There is a David Jiggins on the 1901 census who was 35 at the time. He was living in East London but his place of birth was given as Brentwood. The name Jiggins was quite often spelt as Jiggens or Giggens even between siblings

I have had a look at the paperwork, there are two David Jiggins from Brentwood on the 1901 census. The first who I mentioned was actually 31 years old, living in East Ham and described as a Cost Porter. The second was 74 years old and still resident in Brentwood. It may be that they are both related to 'my' David Jiggins as he married at Bulphan in 1870 which is only a couple of miles from Brentwood.

Hi, my name is David Jiggens, I have traced my Jiggins (and many similar variants of spelling)ancestors back to Thomas Jiggins, born in 1761 in Rayne, near Braintree, Essex but moved to Bulphan where he married in 1785 and died in 1826. I am then stuck and can't get any further back. I know only that Thomas' parents were Samuel and Sarah Jiggins and that Thomas had 9 children. I would be grateful if you have any more information. I could send you a copy of my 'tree' if it would be useful to you?

Regards,
David Jiggens, Colchester

My name is Deb Sharkey. My Grandmother was Connie (Constance) Jiggens born in 1900. Her borther was Tom Jiggens and 2 sisters Doris and Mildred. Tom lived on Fobbing Road, Corringham, Essex. His son David did reside there too. I believe her Mom was also named Connie (Constance). That is all I know, but would love to learn more.
