I am looking for a Sam Jeys who was married to Mary and gave birth to a son, Lewis Herman, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 3, 1891. Sam was a "whip man" performing with the Buffalo Bill Wild West in Omaha, NE. & Iowa. His wife, Mary, was from the West Indies. They were divorced and Sam took Lewis & a younger sister on the road with him. Little sister died & is buried somewhere in a paupers grave. Lewis was abandoned in Denison, Iowa at age 9 or 10 sleeping in cardboard boxes, alleys & was found by an attorney. Lewis was adopted by the Carl Hawley family and he was known as "Mick" Hawley, Dow City, Iowa. He is my step-grandfather. He married Pearl Keairnes whose husband had died at age 30 leaving her with two sons, my dad, Enos Keairnes, and Loren. Pearl and "Mick" were married in 1926. Any connection here? I want to know more about Samuel Jeys, and Lewis Herman Jeys (Hawley).
