Joseph Jewkes

I have been checking on all the Jewkes names I have on my pedigree chart thus far. There are several Joseph Jewkes and James Jewkes, but no ties to the East coast (Boston). My GrGrgrandfather, Samuel Jewkes, immigrated from England in 1830 and lived in St. Louis for a period of time. He was an engineer. His first wife died, and he remarried, then they moved West. A Joseph Jewkes doesn't come into the picture until they moved West. It's very possible Samuel Jewkes immigrated with other family members and one or more settled in the East. I just don't have any tie-in as yet. Jewkes is not a common name and I imagine we could tie in our line somewhere back in time. It would be interesting to know if we can. I don't know if you live on the East Coast, or where, but I could suggest a place for you to start, with experienced help, if you want it. Contact the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in your area and I'm sure they could steer you to an experienced geneologist at one of their Church History centers. No cost, except for printing, etc. The church has over 1400 history centers all over the United States. My direct e:mail address is ldjmorga@ihc.com., if you'd like to keep in contact. I will try to work harder on my Jewkes line. If you find any connection to the Jewkes line that originates in England (mine originates in Tixton, Staffordshire, England),I can help you there. Keep in contact, if desired.
