Thank you for the origin of the Jewkes name. I married into the Jewkes family in Utah, USA. This Jewkes line comes from William Jewkes b. 5 Jan 1794, Dudley, Worcestershire, Eng. He married Jane Woodward, b. 30 Jul 1795. His father was Joseph Jewkes b. 1 Aug 1773 of same and he married Sarah b 1769. We probably tie in some place. We have an unproven line from Joseph. His father James Jewkes or Jukes b. 1746, his father James Jukes b. 1718, and his father James Edward Juckes b. 1691, and his father Jeffrey Jukes b. 1656, and his father Paul Jewkes b 1626 all of Dudley. I don't understand the switch around of the Jewkes' name spellings.
