I am the same Kathy Raymond who just responded to you about John Henry Huber. I know that Christian was a lumber inspector near Mobile. I am trying to find out about his immigration to Michigan from Denmark. Could that Captain be Borg? Thank you for responding anyway.
I do not know anything about Jensen in Denmark, My grandfather may have known him as he was from Estonia and had a ship building business in Mobile (Mobile Boat Works)from about 1930 to 1956, before that he had another boat business called (Choctaw Boat Yard) from about 1920-1930. He knew most people in the shipping business back then. He died back in 1956 from cancer. I beleiev that I had a picture with a Capt, I do not remember that Capt's Name at the moment. In the picture Joseph Holberg and his wife were having dinner with this Capt. in Mobile Resturant. I have no information on that Capt. My Grandfather knew a lot of the people from over seas and hired a lot of them in his business. I sorry that I did not know them nor have any information as I was born in 1941. My Father and my Uncle may have known him but they are both dec'd.
I also grew up in Mobile, then serve in the US. Navy for 23 years, now I live in Pensacola. I still travel to Mobile about every weekend.
Joseph F. Holberg Sr
(holbergj@bellsouth.net

Jensen-Klindt connection in The Dalles, Oregon 1906

Hans Peter Jensen , wife Dagmar, and baby Aage immigrated from Denmark to America on the ship 'CEDRIC' in September 1906. Per the document: Hans paid the passage for his family and himself and is meeting his brother-in-law, John Klindt, in The Dalles, Oregon.

I have so far been unable tie down the brother-in-law relationship. I think the two men were married to sisters, but am unable to find a maiden name for the wives. I'm fairly certain Dagmar was not a Klindt, but anything is possible.

Jens Jensen previously thought to be Jervis

In the 1900 Chicago census there is a listing for Jervis Jensen. Because of the offspring listed, he is definitely my great-great grandfather, in my direct male line.

It has suggested to me that his name is really Jens possibly with a C. middle initial, we thought it might be Carl, but possibly Christian that it stands for.

Anyway the person of concern was born June 1850 somewhere in Denmark and arrived in Chicago in 1878. In 1900 he was a widower, but is also listed as a grocer and butcher. He may well have had a store in his name and a Jens C. Jensen is listed in relationship to a meat market about this time. Any help would be tremendously appreciated! In 1880 he may have been listed as Janson.

Jens had several more children after he came to Winnipeg. My dad Fred is the second youngest. He has just had a request from the Hobro Denmark historical archive for any information on his family.
Simon Peter Jensen & Anne Maria Bertelsen - Australia

My family oral history is that my great grandfather changed our surname from JENSEN to STEWART. So I am trying to make a connection between a John STEWART (who was in Fiji between 1914-1922) and John JENSEN b. 1891 Marrickville, New South Wales, Australia.

John JENSEN's parents were Simon Peter JENSEN and Anne Marie BERTELSEN who were married in 1888 in Queensland, Australia. They also had a daughter, Mary Magdalene JENSEN b. 1890.

The information I have on John STEWART from his marriage to Filomena RODAN in 1918 in Suva, Fiji is that he was born in Sydney and was 28 in 1918, which means he would have been born around 1890 or 1891. His father was Peter STEWART who was a carner (granary keeper) and mother BERTELSEN.

The only record I can find of a John STEWART or John JENSEN born in New South Wales that matches the details of John STEWART from his marriage certificate is of John JENSEN b. 1891 Marrickville, New South Wales, Australia.

John JENSEN's parents were Simon Peter JENSEN and Anne Marie BERTELSEN who were married in 1888 in Queensland, Australia. They also had a daughter, Mary Magdalene JENSEN b. 1890.

Would anyone have information on the above family and if they did change their surname from JENSEN to STEWART.

Regards,
Dulcie

Yep, my Jensen relatives settled in Terre Haute IN. I think you have Otto mixed up with Ole, who was the father of Oscar, John, Otto and others. Supposedly your grandfather got sent to prison for bootlegging . I have been to that furniture store. My grandfather,Otto, and his brother Oscar owned a bowling alley in Terre Haute. My father was Charles, his brothers were, Jim and Jerry. All dead now. I fear the Jensen side doesn't have strong genetics for heart and blood pressure problems. Cousin Gary has a history of the family. Its on my old computer.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Kristen

POW/MIA Korean War, JENSEN

I am searching for the family of two soldier with the surname JENSEN who were killed in the Korea War. When they entered service they gave their "Home of Record" as posted below. Their remains were never recovered. The Government has no family contact for these men.

Soldier: PAUL THURMAN JENSEN
Born: Feb. 25, 1930
Date of loss: July 27, 1950 MIA
Home of Record: Woodbury County, Iowa

Soldier: WILBUR DEAN JENSEN
Born: December 15, 1923
Date of loss: Feb. 25, 1951 MIA
Home of Record: Arcata, California

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The two Jensen Families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find these families. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating these families.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Our family is from the Johnson side...my grandmother was Inger( Johnson) Thogerson and was the daughter of the oldest of the 12 children that came to America. Her father was Nels Johnson born August 5, 1852 and came to American when he was 21. He married Mine Knoff. Grandmother was born in 1880 and moved to Harlan, Iowa in 1905 when she married Chris Thogerson. My mother Mena Marie was one of 7 children born to Inger and Chris. Chris was killed in a train accident when he was 38. He farmed near Harlan and died when the youngest (Francis) was 5 months old. Mother married Harry Burmeister and I have triplet and twins in our family. I am the youngest son and have two sons.

My family tree is located at; http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~barbc46/

I also have hard copies of obits and naturalization papers for Richard and Dora.

Do you have information about their children? Also do you have any information about Richard as an artist? His obit said that he painted murals on many buildings in Burlington where he lived. My grandmother, his daughter, wrote in a letter that he painted fresco's in homes in New York.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to access your tree, and thus far haven't been able to get on.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Barb Chandler

My grandfather, Anton Jensen, still has family in Denmark. He immigrated here when he was about 17. He was born March 28, 1894. We believe he had a brother named Carl who stayed in Denmark. We also think his father was Carl and his mother Esther Pederson. If you find any connection to your family, please let me know. My father was Robert Jensen, Anton's son.

I am looking for any living decendents/relatives of PVT. Jensen. His records indicate he was a cook and probably served in France.
His Army serial number led me to his birth information on the National Archives website.
He was born in Cook County, Ill in 1907. He was "separated, with no dependents" when he entered the service in Sept. 1942. His place of enlistment was Sacramento, CA.

I am new to Ancestry, so please direct me to any other sites if this is not the best place to start my search.

Thanks,
Roy
