James Jensen (1.17.1878-8.8.60) married Carrie Pedersen

Hi,

This is a long shot, given how few descendants he had. There were two sons, Irving James and Juston Loyd (just that spelling, though it is mis-spelled Justen and Justin at times--his nickname was Jess); Irving (Married Doris Mae Ostrander 12.31.40) had my mom, Sandra Lee (3.8.44) and uncle James Marshall (5.27.48). There's 4 great-grandchildren on Irving's side.

On Juston's side, he adopted one son, Donald, who was the child of Juston's wife Barbara Helen Schneider Jensen. Donald had 2 children by 1960 when James died, Donald married a woman by the name of Rose Mae or May, and they were living in Brooklyn Center, MN, in 1982, when Barbara died.

I have no clue what happened to them, or whether this James Jensen had any siblings. This family is a total mystery to me. Anyone know anything?

Many thanks!
Chris Wogaman
Minneapolis, MN (2008)

Christine Jensen and Jorgen Madsen family, Jorgen immigrated from Denmark 1892

My grandfather, Francis Matson's biological parents were Jorgen Madson and Christine Jensen. Jorgen immigrated from Denmark in 1892. He applied for naturalization in Hutchinson, MN in 1896. He married Christine abt 1897 and they lived in Hutchinson until abt 1906, then moved to Iron River, Bayfield county, Wisconsin. They had eight children, all boys. Christine died in 1914, after giving birth to a son, who also died.
Christine was born abt 1878 and immigrated abt 1884. According to the 1900 census, her father's name was SC (Soren)Jensen, born abt 1835. He was a widow. He died 28 May 1923 in Richland county, Montana. She also had brothers Torvel and Lager and sisters Anna Betker and Mrs. A.G. Betker.
After Christine died, the children were all adopted out. Francis was adopted by Tony Madsen and his wife Mary Jensen, who, I believe lived in Rice county, MN. It would be obvious that either Jorgen or Christine would be related to one of them, but I haven't been able to make a connection. I do not know what happened to the other children or to Jorgen. I would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about this family. Thank you.
Our great uncle Jens Peder Jensen was a son of Jens Andersen of Viborg, Fjends, Risen, born April 25, 1847. He and his family came to the U.S in 1878 and are in the 1880 census for Utah, Juab, Nephi with given-name changes. Jens Peder, 33, became J. P Jensen, his wife Kirstine Marie Nielsen Jensen, 31, became Catherina, son Jørgen Peder, 9, became Peter, daughter Hedvig Kirstine, 7, became Christine, daughter Wilhelmine, 5, became Wilhelmina, Marie, 3, stayed Marie, and Nicolenea, 1, was born in Utah in 1879. These are their new names and ages as listed in the 1880 Utah census. We can't seem to find them in any 1900 census.

If anyone has any information on these Jensens, we would love to hear from you.

Sylvia
This son had children Sharon, Debbie, Kathy, Kenny and Cindy. It is believed that the family lived in the St.Paul Minneapolis area when the five children were born. Any information appreciated.

Hi I am trying to find out what happened to a relative.
She was born Mary Sophia Yenson in 1868 but the last i can find of her is in 1881 when she is referred to as Sophia Jensen aged 13. After that i can't find her. I was wondering if anyone should come across her in the records if they could possibly let me know as she is the only person of that generation i haven't traced.
Thanks
Sarah Yenson

META KOSSOW - ALFRED JENSEN - Marshall Co. area, Kansas, 1870-1930

I am trying to find information about the Kossow family who lived in Marshall County area in Kansas around the 1870 through at least 1930's. I know they are connected to my great great grandmother, Christina Kossow Brandt from Freeport, Illinois. Through pictures and old newspaper clippings, I believe I may have figured out the lineage, but need verification.

I think Christine's brother was William (Wilhelm) Kossow, married to Sophia Sievert. Their children were Ernest (wife, Rose), Anna (not married), Meatha (husband, Alfred Jensen), William (wife, Lula Belle Highfield) , Henry (wife, Emma Zimmerling).
Andrew Jensen, born Denmark 1844

I am looking for information on my great-grandfather Andrew Jensen. He came to the US in 1876 and later moved to Dakota Territory. I am particularly interested in who his parents were, whether he had brothers or sisters, and the extended family in Denmark, and how to find that information.

His obituary from 1918 states: "Andrew Jensen was born in Denmark on the 22nd day of February 1844. At the age of 17 he united with the Baptist Church in Frederickshaven. In 1876 he came to this country and was married the next year to Caroline Andersen. This marriage was of short duration as she died in 1881. In 1882 he was married to Inger Marie Christensen of Racine, Wisconsin. Six months later they moved to Dakota Territory and located in Daneville, Turner County."

Note: Inger Marie Christensen was born in Denmark in 1860 and had come to the US in 1882. I don't know if she and Andrew had known each other in Denmark.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lori
Rasmus Jensen b-1882 Denmark d-1957 Robbinsdale, MN

Well, thanks to a relative, we have found the long lost great uncle. I will forever save those little cards you get at funerals! If not for one of those little cards I would still be looking. His name is Rasmus Marius Jensen, born 6-1-1882, and died on 11-4-1957. He had a brother named Jens, and a sister Marie. The funeral card says that the sister was in Denmark, and only that he had a brother. Now I need more information, the card said he had 2 sons, James and Roy. There is no mention of a wife. If anyone knows more please let me know, or if you are related there is quite a story here, I would love to share it with you. He lived in Robbinsdale, and probably moved there sometime after about 1896 when he came to America. That is only a guess. Let me know if you are related to Jensens in the area, or maybe I will have to start sending out some letters. Thanks for your help... Patti
