I've seen discussion on a Noah Jennings of SC on this board and elsewhere and wanted to add something to the discussion. I've been researching the Jennings family in Faifield Co., SC and came across Noah's name. A Noah Jennings purchased items from the estate of Henry R(eid) Jennings in 1839. Henry Reid Jennings lived from 1815-1839. His father was Richard Daniel Jennings. Richard Jennings was in the 1850 federal census which indicated he was born in Sumter (assuming it means the county). In other census he was found as R.D.

Richard Daniel Jennings is a mystery to the family. We don't know when he was born or died (aft. 1860). My mother-in-law had the impression he had an unsavory reputation perhaps based on the fact that his father-in-law, Alexander Rosebourough, made it plain in his will that his daughter was to inherit, not R.D. R.D. got a dollar.

In addition to Henry, R.D. seems to have had at least one other son, Alexander, whose family moved to Texas, and probably a daughter named Jane (Robinson) with whom he lived. He probably had other children, but I can't put names to them. A James Jennings pops up in the 1860 census, but I can't find him in 1850. He married a woman named Malinda and died in 1862 leaving 3 children. I think she moved to Hernando Co, FL.

I have more research to do on this family, but was intrigued that Noah Jennings' name showed up.
