Alice B. Jennings

Alice B. Jennings, 83, formerly of Fond du Lac, died on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at Nazareth House in Stoughton, Wis.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1919, in Doylestown, Wis., the third of seven children, to George and Belle Wright Colwell. She graduated from Rio High School in 1937.

She was united in marriage to Norman S. Jennings on July 12, 1941, in Union Grove, Wis.

She worked most of her life as a secretary at Miles-Kimball in Oshkosh, Wis. She had lived at All About Life nursing home in Fond du Lac for two years until recently moving to the Nazareth House in Stoughton, Wis.

Alice had belonged to St. Mathew’s Methodist Church in Fond du Lac. where she was active in the women’s group and was a leader for youth counseling. She also served as a peer counselor for Parkinson’s Disease. Alice enjoyed quilting and collecting antiques. She and her husband were avid campers.

Most of all, she was devoted to raising her children and being a terrific mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Ralph (Rose) Jennings of Sun Prairie, Wis., Mel (Janet) Jennings of Little Suamico, Wis.; one daughter, Ruth (Sam) Sloan of Stoughton, Wis.; one brother, Russell (Ruth) Colwell of DeForest, Wis.; three sisters, Jane (Jack) Kavanaugh of Madison, Wis., Carol Price of Rio, and Barbara Stamos of Wollaston, Mass.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both her parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Lynn Colwell; and her husband, Norman S. Jennings who died on May 2, 1999.

• Services: Funeral services for Alice B. Jennings will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at the Vangen Funeral Home in Rio with the Rev. Wm. Thomas Howie officiating. Burial will follow at the Ohio Cemetery.

• Visitation: Friends and relatives may call on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. at the Vangen Funeral Home in Rio.

Memorials may be made to the Christ Congregational Church in Rio in memory of Alice B. Jennings.
