I'm trying to track this person down either in terms of his parents, census records, etc..
I have the marriage certificate of him, William Jelbard, marrying Hannah Searle on 28 Jan 1844 in Madron, Cornwall. He describes himself as a labourer, age 21. His father is shown as Richard Jelbard - miner.
Both of them feature as the parents of Richard Gilbert born 1845 in the Madron poorhouse. His occupation is now mariner.
The next factual sighting of him is on the marriage certificate of that same Richard Gilbert on 11 Jan 1870 in Penzance where William's occupation is described as Stone Mason.
Can anyone help as all my research on possible parents lead to a Richard Jelbart and Alice Williams, and in turn their William Jelbert would be married to someone else during that period!
Hope someone can return my sanity to me.
