He was born in Memphis, TX 14 Dec 1919 to Otto and Byrd Jehl. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1939 and was commissioned as an officer in 1940 and was a pilot for the next 33 years in the USAF. He was a veteran of WWII, Korean Wat and Vietname War.
During WWII he flew with Walter Bedell "Beetle" Smith's pilots and was one of teh pilots who flew to the German High Command to the signing of their formal surrender to the Allies in Reims, France 10 May 1945.
Predeceased by his wife in March 1997. ( She is never named in this obituary but perhaps you can find her in the SSDI)
Survived by daughter, Patty Lamb of Austin and husband John;sons,Roland R Jehl Jr and wife Cynthia Record Jehl of Plano, TX and Larry Jehl of Austin; grandchidlren, Michael and Jeffery Lamb and Evan and Bailey Jehl;sister, Vassar Holoubeck of CA.
