1866 Alabama State census, Pike County, lists an Elizabeth Jefffcoat, between 20 and 30 years of age, as head of household with a girl under 10. Noted that there was a soldier who died of sickness, most probably her husband. In 1893, after the death of her second husband Albert Lovelace in Jefferson County,, AL, Elizabeth applied for a pension for the Union Army service of Albert. In her application she states that "... she was married under the name of N. Elizabeth Jeffcoat to said Albert Loveless ... [she] was married to F. Jeffcoat who died during the Union War." I am trying to discover the identity of said F. Jeffcoat and would appreciate any help. The same page of the 1866 census shows a Ruben Jeffcoat and another Jeffcoat I cannot decipher at the top of the page. See the image. Hopefully this might help in determining the identity of Elizabeth's first husband.
