I'm just starting to trace my family tree and I'm hoping that someone out there may be able to offer help. My mothers maiden name was Jeffears, in England we are, as far as I know, the only family to have that surname. The family history is that our descendants came originally from France to Ireland (Wexford) and then to England and at some point the spelling of the surname was changed (we have no details of changes made). My g-g-grandfather was Christopher Jeffears, I know that he had children Richard (my g-grandfather born c. 1850, ) Annie May born c 1853, George born c1857 and Christopher born c1862. As I am unable to find any trace whatsoever of the surname Jeffears in Irish records, I'm beginning to think that the name may originally have been Jeffares. If anyone has any info at all that may help it would be much appreciated as I'm running out of leads.
