Jourdia Wall Jeeter, age 89,
passed away Thursday, January 14, 2010,
at Edinboro Manor.
She was born in Royston, Georgia,
June 20, 1920,
daughter of the late John Wall and Deliler Downer Wall.
She was a resident of Erie for over 55 years. Her last employment was with Harlin Pre-School for more than ten years where she was Head Cook. She was proud to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses. For over 30 years, before aging slowed them down, Jourdia and her husband, James attended the former Lawrence Park Congregation (now North East Congregation of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses). More recently, she enjoyed having the Bible read to her when she couldn't do so for herself. She was a kind and generous woman who was well-loved by family and friends. She will be fondly remembered by many for being a great cook and for her hospitality. Jourdia was a wonderful mother to her children and grandchildren who loved her and will dearly miss her.
Besides her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Jeeter;
a daughter, Brenda Jeeter;
a son, Johnny Jeeter;
two sisters, Doris Odom and Lettie Sue Hunt;
and three brothers, H.G., Louis and Bennie Wall. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Sharon Thames,
and two sons, Willie Bobby Jeeter
and Daniel Jeeter (Myrtle), all of Erie;pa
a sister, Janie Austin, and a brother, Prince Wall, both of Detroit, Michigan; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Law Funeral Home, 2926 Pine Ave., followed by a talk at 5 p.m., by Charles Payne of the North East Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
