Yugoslovia was not a country until 1920, but that's the place of birth indicated on the 1920 US Census taken in Mercer, Pennsylvania. My maternal grandfather, born 1884, came to this country around 1902 when he was 18. His brother, name unknown, was ill and could not get into this country, so he went to Canada as the family story goes. Michael changed his surname to Samball upon arrival. He married Mary Pollok (changed to Pollock) who came to this country at age 8 to join her parents and siblings around 1898. Michael and Mary's 5 children were Anna Samball Shanley, Marie Samball, Albert Samball, Michael (known as Taro) Samball and Helen Samball Sumner (my mother). Please respond to this post if you have any info on Michael Samball Jazvac.
