This is amazing - my whole life, the only Jaynes I ever knew were my mothers side of the family. Now suddenly, here are droves of Jaynes turning up .... seemingly all in America!! I am very new to genealogy but Jayne is a dream of a name to research, so I have already gone back as far as Thomas Jayne, vicar of Rendcombe in Gloucestershire, who apparently attended Bailiol College, Oxford in the 1750s, and who is possibly my greatx4 grandfather.
I am curious about the American Jaynes .... did the name emigrate to or from the USA? I'd guess it originated in the UK. Any background info gratefully received. One thing I have found ... they seemed to be quite a long lived bunch on the whole ... good news for all us Jaynes!
